Madhu Merugoju was born in Secunderbad. Completed his Bachelors of Fine Arts in 2018 from Sri Venkateshwara College of Fine Arts. His passion for arts started at the very early age of 13 years.
Madhu picked up a special liking for Cheriyal (Cherial) paintings from his elder brother, late Mr. M.Chandraiah. Who learned from a Cheriyal painting Guru. It took seven years to master the art.
Madhu has won several awards in recognition for his work and contributions to Cheriyal paintings. State Award in 2007, awarded by APHDCL, Kalanidhi Award in the year 2011, and Mega Award Konaseema Chitrakala Parishad in 2011.

Madhu was also invited by the Society of Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Amongst Youth (SPICMACAY) to run workshops at different schools. Madhu has trained over 3000 students.
Madhu has also worked with the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT) in training and demonstrating Cheriyal (Cherial) Scroll Painting in Hyderabad and has trained over 5000 students and 500 teachers.
